We Are Indo-European: A Muslim European Perspective. Issue #2

Introduction: An Indo-European Return to Tradition

In a time of identity confusion, historical amnesia, and spiritual emptiness, it’s more urgent than ever for Europeans — especially Muslim Europeans — to reclaim who we are. We are Indo-European.

This is not just a journey into the past. It’s a return to nobility, spirituality, and purpose — a revival of the Indo-European spirit through the lens of Islam.

The Indo-European Expansion: Warriors, Farmers, Seekers

The Indo-European story begins on the Pontic-Caspian Steppe, in what is now Ukraine and Southern Russia. From there, waves of migration shaped civilizations from India to Ireland.

Linguistic Roots

Languages like Sanskrit, Latin, Old English, and Greek all trace back to Proto-Indo-European (PIE). Words like mater, mother, mātṛ reveal a deep linguistic kinship across continents.

Archaeological Evidence

Cultures such as the Yamnaya and Corded Ware left burial mounds (kurgans), evidence of horsemanship, and an ethos of movement and frontiership.

Genetic Continuity

Modern DNA studies confirm a significant Yamnaya contribution to European and South Asian ancestry. The Indo-European bloodline lives on — not as myth, but as biology.

Indo-European Culture: Seeds of Civilisation

The ancient Indo-European worldview helped shape philosophy, law, art, and governance. From Plato’s dialogues to Roman engineering, from the Christian monastic order to Renaissance art — we see the flowering of an old, resilient tree.

But for the Muslim European, heritage must align with divine guidance:

  • Knowledge must serve Tawheed (Oneness of God)
  • Art must elevate the soul
  • Law must uphold divine justice

Our ancestors reached high — but Islam shows us how to reach higher.

The Indo-European Spirit: Courage, Honour, and Purpose

This spirit didn’t vanish. It transformed through history:

  • The Vikings: Fearless explorers driven by loyalty and courage
  • The Knights: Protectors of justice and sacred duty
  • The Cowboys: Independent frontiersmen bound to land and brotherhood

Yet this spirit — bold but aimless — longed for a greater cause. As Muslim Europeans, we are called to refine it, not reject it. Islam channels ancestral courage toward submission to Allah, the Most High.

Reviving the Spirit: A Muslim European Path

To reclaim our Indo-European legacy as Muslims, we must live it with intention and clarity:

  • 🌿 Reconnect with Nature: Hike, farm, explore — and reflect on the signs of Allah
  • 🛠 Live Authentically: Be people of truth, excellence, and honour in craft
  • 🏡 Build Community: Strengthen families, friendships, and Muslim networks across Europe

“Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.”

Qur’an 13:11

The change begins with us.

From Paganism to Christianity — and Now Islam

Europe’s history is one of transformation. Pagan tribes became Christian kingdoms. Christianity brought structure and meaning — until secularism stripped it away.

Nietzsche declared “God is dead” — but Islam says: God is eternal.

Far from being alien to Europe, Islam once flourished here:

  • In Andalusia, it birthed philosophy, science, and art
  • It united people of different tribes under Tawheed
  • It gave life to a vision of justice and beauty

Islam is not Europe’s enemy — it is Europe’s completion.

The Return to the Natural Religion

Islam is fitrah — the original nature of man. It offers what ancient Indo-Europeans longed for but could not reach:

  • One God, not many idols
  • One Law, not tribal codes
  • One Purpose, not endless striving

Through Islam, we don’t erase our Indo-European ancestry — we elevate it.

Final Words: The Knight Kneels

O Muslim European,
Be proud of your bloodline, but bow only to your Creator.
Let your identity be forged not in modern confusion but in eternal truth.
The Indo-European spirit is not dead —
It is being purified.
And it is ready to rise again — through Islam.
